On May 1 at 7-9 a.m. our regional partners will be leading commute rides from 4 locations in the Sacramento area that will converge in downtown at Fremont Park. People who are new and old to bicycling are encouraged to take this opportunity to ride to work as a group and encourage family, friends and colleagues to do the same.

Roll Model - Victoria Aktins, Pediatrician on a Bicycle Mission

Victoria rides her bike to work every day (sometimes a 29 mile, one-way commute), to the farmer’s market in Carmichael, and everywhere else she can.  She says, “You don’t have to be an athlete to be a bike commuter, but bike commuting can put you in the best shape of your life.”

Roll Model - David Baker, Lifetime Bicyclist

Though he is retired, David Baker will tell you, “I have two jobs, one is riding a bike, one is reading.”  He will be riding 74 miles any day now for his 74th birthday, which makes us wonder how many books he plans on reading for his birthday. He hopes sharing his bike love story inspires older people to get back on a bike – to him, “It’s never too late.”
